"Estados Unidos, has tu lo mismo..."

Jesús respondió:

—Bajaba un hombre de Jerusalén a Jericó, y cayó en manos de unos ladrones. Le quitaron la ropa, lo golpearon y se fueron, dejándolo medio muerto.³¹ Resulta que viajaba por el mismo camino un sacerdote quien, al verlo, se desvió y siguió de largo.³² Así también llegó a aquel lugar un levita, y al verlo, se desvió y siguió de largo.³³ Pero un samaritano que iba de viaje llegó adonde estaba el hombre y, viéndolo, se compadeció de él.³⁴ Se acercó, le curó las heridas con vino y aceite, y se las vendó. Luego lo montó sobre su propia cabalgadura, lo llevó a un alojamiento y lo cuidó.³⁵ Al día siguiente, sacó dos monedas de plata^[a] y se las dio al dueño del alojamiento. "Cuídemelo —le dijo—, y lo que gaste usted de más, se lo pagaré cuando yo vuelva." ³⁶ ¿Cuál de estos tres piensas que demostró ser el prójimo del que cayó en manos de los ladrones?
³⁷ —El que se compadeció de él —contestó el experto en la ley.

—Anda entonces y haz tú lo mismo —concluyó Jesús.

US, go and do likewise

30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

la frontera que nos separa

Una ves mas me encuentro hablando desde la periferia, desde los de afuera, desde los que a veces no importan, desde los ignoradosy oprimidos, fastidiados y angustiados. Una vez mas alzo mi voz contra lo injusto e inhumano, contra los ricos y privilegiados, contra lo que nos separa. Cuando nos separamos y distanciamos de aquellos que no son de nuestra clase social, de nuestro genero, de nuestro grupo etnico y cultural, nos hacemos menos humanos. Cuando se levantan muros y fronteras entre paises, nos desconectamos. Los seres humanos siempre buscaremos formas de derribar las fronteras y muros, de reconectarnos de ser humanos, de estar cerca del uno al otro. No creo que esa frontera vaya a funcionar.

The Border that Keep Us Apart

One more time I find myself speaking from the outside, for the ones that sometimes do not matter, for the ones who are ignored, oppressed, bothered and anguished. One more time, I raise my voice against the unfair and inhuman, against the rich and privileged, against that which keeps us separated. When we separate and distance ourselves from those who are not from our social class, gender, ethnic and cultural group, we become less human. When walls are raised between countries, we disconnect from each other. Human beings will always look for connection and to be close. I don't think that wall is going to work.
